Note: What's Next? By Festival Formula and False Mirror VR lecture are at the same time.

If future humans (or post-humans) ever live in completely virtual worlds, what would their lives look like? The VR project False Mirror attempts to answer this by simply beginning to construct those worlds. False Mirror is an ongoing research project started in 2017, expanding floor after floor to create an infinite virtual city. The result is a unique experience that uses speculative design to imagine a possible future that’s continually growing and reshaping itself.

During this lecture-performance, Ali Eslami, wearing his VR Headset, will login to False Mirror with his virtual identity to explore and breakdown his future life with the audience: surfing through his home, revealing his modular post-human body and revisiting inner spaces in the city.

About Ali Eslami:
Ali Eslami is a Virtual Reality Artist and Practitioner from Iran who has been active and experimenting with VR since 2014. Ali’s work carves new pathways into this emerging medium by developing interactive experiences, driving his practice-led research. The experiences manifest as realities that blur fictional and non-fictional narratives, which strive to articulate possible futures. Ali compliments his process with speculative design and world-building and is ever questioning the restraints of physical space, time and bodies. Besides content production, Ali is active in running VR lectures and workshops.
In 2016, his VR project won the IDFA DocLab Award for “Best Immersive non-fiction”
